(The Hudson & Middleton families ran a number of potworks on their own and together - for example the one in Bagnall Street, Longton (to the side of St. James Church).The Middleton and Hudson families operated the Alma Works in Longton together from 1870 to 1889 at which time they started their separate pottery companies.
William Hudson operated the Sutherland Works in Normacot Road on his own account from 1889 - and then in 1941 the descendants of the Hudson & Middleton joined forces again at the Sutherland Pottery.)
